On Saturday 5th November, England Netball held their National ONE Awards here at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens. Incredibly, Birmingham had had 5 nominees for a National Award after a fantastic year for netball. Birmingham had a winner with Samantha Evans winning Teacher of the Year. The achievements didn’t finish there as Colette Thomson MBE received a special recognition award for her amazing dedication to netball!
The evening itself was a fantastic celebration of netball from around the country. With volunteers from every area of England being joined with current and past national players to celebrate what has been an amazing year! The evening boasted a three course meal that was a chance to meet new people and find out what has being happening across the country. It was amazing to be able to have an event like this to conclude a year where Birmingham held the Commonwealth Games and to celebrate together for the first time in a several years. We look forward to next years regional awards. Barr Beacon is a large, CAPS accredited club based on the Walsall/Birmingham border and we are looking for a dynamic, committed Level 2 Netball Coach to join our team.
