Welcome, to the Birmingham Summer Netball League!
Over the years we have seen the BSNL continually change and grow, moving with the times.
We started the BSNL in 1978 to bridge the gap, and keep netball flowing during the summer months when the BNL winter season had ended, and like them, we offer Grassroots Netball to a diverse level of abilities, catered to by 12 divisions [hosting around 72 teams].
And not just players – needing 20 Umpires per round, we are also proud to support our Officiators, and offer an outlet for them to progress their skills and work through their levels.
Definitively a “Summer” League, our matches run from April to July, this season split over two times slots, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with all divisions.
Our passionate Committee of Volunteers, led by Christine Peddie, our League Chair, tirelessly organise divisional placements, fixtures, matches, timetables, umpires all with the help of the behind the scenes administration, to ensure the smooth running of the League and are inspired by the huge numbers of participants we watch play our beautiful sport on a weekly basis.
While we are specifically the Birmingham Summer Netball League, we do work closely with our Colleagues in the other Birmingham Leagues – Birmingham Netball League [BNL] & Intermediates League (BINL) - and with the Birmingham Netball Association (who also offer Funding to Coaches and Courses to Umpires & Coaches), to co-ordinate dates on events and tournaments (dates and times of which are on the Website Calendar) and particularly with the County Umpiring Secretary, who organises Umpire Assessments, working closely with the BSNL’s Team of Umpiring Administrators – Click on them for links to all their pages.
The BSNL hold an annual AGM in Sept/Oct and application forms for each new season need to be in to us by the Dec 20th each year. Information updates and bulletins on this will be posted on this website, as well as other social media outlets.
