Birmingham Intermediate Netball League
Intermediate netball started as 2 separate leagues situated in the North and South of Birmingham. The founder of the Intermediate Netball league was Susan Bell who was the Sports Development Officer for Birmingham. This ran for about 2 years, until we merged both areas in 1995 and named it Birmingham Intermediate Netball League (BINL). The league provides netball across the city for young girls aged 11yrs -15yrs to get a chance to play competitive netball. We now provide netball for school year 6 girls in our league.
Over the past 25 years we have grown from 15–20 teams to over 100 teams with 17 divisions. We originally played at Stockland Green Leisure Centre, Erdington and due to our growth, we are now based at University of Birmingham which is situated in the centre of Birmingham. This venue comes with 10 fantastic allweather courts. BINL pride themselves on excellent, competitive netball for young girls and is the only league that encourages and support INTO (Beginner) umpires. We are proud to support our Officiators and provide an outlet for them to progress their skills and work through their levels. The committee pride themselves on providing good competitive grassroots netball.
Each year the league kicks off with a Pre-season tournament which is normally held the first 2 weekends in February. This tournament launches the league and also gives the committee the heads up for divisional placings. The season then commences the first week in March and is played on Sundays, only having time off for Mother’s Day, Easter, Father’s Day, Half Term & bank holidays.
The league ends July with an End of Season Tournament where competitive games and trophies for the season winners and runners ups of each division are handed out.
The BINL hold their annual AGM in October where Clubs are invited along to discuss how the season went and to propose & vote on changes to the BINL Rules & Constitution.
Please take a few minutes to look through our website. Clubs are always looking for new players and the league for new teams. Feel free to email the Chair ([email protected]) if you would like to discuss anything pertaining to BINL
